SUMMARY:9/30: NEC w/Alex Pollock\, American Enterprise Institute: “Living in the Political Wake of the Bubble”
LOCATION:Darlington House\, 1610 20th St.\, N.W.\, Washington\, DC
DESCRIPTION:http://thenationaleconomistsclub.shuttlepod.org/ViewEvent.ashx?eventId=189919\n\nAlex Pollock\nAmerican Enterprise Institute\n“Living in the Political Wake of the Bubble” The recently-enacted Dodd-Frank regulatory reform law provides for a lot of regulatory expansion\, but brings about relatively little actual reform. Moving around regulatory boxes is unlikely to prevent future financial crises. The strategy of expanding regulation depends upon the assumption that regulators have superior knowledge\, but there is no evidence that they do\, as regulators are likely to make the same intellectual mistakes as others. A better approach would be to develop counter-cyclical strategies to moderate the swings that often lead to bubbles and financial crises.\nTo register\, go to www.national-economists.org\, click on the 'Calendar' tab.\n\n
